After burning the midnight oil preparing the three ring binder's worth of forms needed to become a City Council candidate, I filed my papers with the City Clerk's office earlier today to become an official candidate for re-election.
Many thanks are due to the excellent team in Byron Pope's office. Byron was out of town at a statewide meeting for City Clerks, but Lourdes Rodriguez filled in ably and walked me through the filing process, which has become more complex since my first campaign in 2006-'07.
Although we have made enormous progress over the past four years, I am committed to finishing the job the residents sent me to City Hall to work on in 2007. There is still much to do, from infrastructure upgrades to stronger ethics reform. I am excited about sharing my vision and getting your ideas and suggestions over the coming weeks as we launch the campaign.
